For shoes, I'd suggest possibly Asics, Brooks, or Saucony. Nikes have been known to become hard to keep clean, and adidas are better for basketball. Go to a operating store and get advice on shoes that would work greatest for you. It really depends on the distance you run, and shape of your foot. Clothes shouldn't be too tight plus they should not interfere with running. An air-wick brand like Under Armour, Nike, or Adidas is great because they have been known to do better than cotton.
